- a screenshot if it's easy to take.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up or login. Everything you create stays on your phone.
Where is my data stored? Can you see it?
Your counters, history and settings are stored only on your device, and We never receive them. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
How do I back up my counters or move to a new phone?
Open Settings → Export backup (JSON) and send the file to yourself (email, cloud storage and so on). On the new phone, open Settings → Import backup and choose that file. You can Merge it into what's already there or Replace all. Export history (CSV) creates a spreadsheet-friendly file, but it can't be imported back.
How do I delete my data?
Delete a counter from its edit screen (long-press the counter, then Delete counter), or uninstall the App to remove all of its data from your phone. If Android device backup is turned on, you can manage or delete the backup in your Google account settings. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
How do I add a home-screen widget?
Long-press an empty spot on your home screen, choose Widgets, find Tally Counter and drag the 1-counter or 3-counter widget onto the screen. Tapping + on a widget counts without opening the App.
My reminder didn't show up. What should I check?
- Make sure notifications are allowed for the App in Android settings.
- Check that battery optimisation isn't restricting the App (Settings → Apps → Tally Counter → Battery → Unrestricted on many phones).
- Reminders are skipped for the day once you've reached that counter's target.
- Android can delay reminders by a minute or two to save battery.
Can I count with my phone's volume buttons?
Yes, on Android. Open a counter, tap the ⋯ menu and choose Count with volume buttons. It only works while that counter's screen is open.
Why are there ads, and can I get rid of them?
The App is free and ads pay for it. Ads appear only on the counter list, never while you're counting. A paid way to remove ads is planned but isn't available yet. In regions where the law requires it, you can change your ad consent under Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android's Privacy settings.
How do I unlock the extra themes?
Tap a locked theme in Settings and choose Watch ad. When the ad finishes, the theme unlocks.
