Privacy Policy for Tally Counter
- Effective date: 8 October 2026
- App: Tally Counter (Android), package
com.shishirrai.tallycounter - Developer: Shishir Rai
- Contact: raishishir774@gmail.com
The short version
- Tally Counter has no accounts and no servers of ours. Your counters, history and settings are stored on your device. We never receive them.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google collects some device information to serve and measure those ads. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or social-media tools, and we do not sell your data.
- The app does not use your microphone, camera, contacts, location or photos.
1. Who we are
Tally Counter is made by Shishir Rai ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information. If you have questions, contact us at raishishir774@gmail.com.
2. Information stored on your device
When you use the app, it saves the following only on your device:
- the counters you create: names, icons, colours, targets, step sizes and optional group names;
- your counting history: the total for each counter for each day;
- your settings: theme, haptics, keep-screen-awake, volume-button counting, and any premium themes you have unlocked;
- reminder times you choose.
We do not have access to this information. It is not uploaded to us or to any server we run. There is no sign-up, login or profile.
Home-screen widgets. If you add a widget, the app keeps a copy of your counters in a private area on your device so the widget can display and update them. This copy never leaves your device.
Backups you create. The "Export" options in Settings create a file (JSON or CSV) containing your counters and history. The file is created on your device and passed to whichever app you choose in the Android share sheet (for example email or cloud storage). What happens to it after that is governed by that app's privacy policy, not this one.
Android device backup. Android may back up the app's data to your Google account if you have device backup turned on. This is controlled by your device and Google account settings. You can turn it off in your Android settings.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads using Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. The app shows:
- a banner ad on the counter list (never on the counting screen), and
- an optional rewarded ad that you can choose to watch to unlock a premium theme.
To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app may collect and use information from your device, including:
- your Advertising ID and similar device identifiers;
- your IP address and the approximate location that can be derived from it;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version and language;
- information about how you interact with ads, and diagnostic and performance data.
Google receives this information directly from your device. We do not receive it, and we do not receive personal information about you from Google; we only see aggregated reports of ad performance and earnings. Google's use of this information is described in its policies, including How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
We ask Google to limit ad content to a general-audience maximum rating (PG).
Your choices about ads
- Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (or another region where consent is required), the app shows a consent form, provided by Google, before any ad is requested. If you do not agree, ads are not shown. You can review or change your choice at any time in the app under Settings → Ad privacy choices (this option appears wherever the law requires us to offer it).
- Advertising ID. You can reset your Advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in your Android settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads). You can also delete your Advertising ID there.
- Rewarded ads are optional. You never have to watch an ad to use the counting features of the app.
4. Notifications
If you turn on a reminder for a counter, the app asks for permission to send you notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your device and shown by it. We do not run a notification server, and we do not send push notifications. You can turn reminders off for a counter, or switch notifications off for the app, in Android settings at any time.
5. Permissions the app uses
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet, network state | So Google can deliver ads and the consent form. The app counts and saves everything fully offline. |
| Notifications | To show the reminders you set. |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback when you count (you can turn this off in Settings). |
| Wake lock | To keep the device awake while you count if you turn on "keep screen awake", and while an ad or other background work needs to finish. |
| Run at startup | So reminders you set keep working after you restart your phone. |
| Advertising ID and ad-services access | Required by Google's ad SDK to serve ads. See section 3. |
The app does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, photos, files or precise location.
6. Who else is involved
- Google (AdMob, Google's consent form). Described in section 3.
- Google Play. If you installed the app from Google Play, Google handles the installation and any purchases under its own policies.
The app currently contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising-network or social-media software other than Google's ad SDK. If that changes we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
7. Children
Tally Counter is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we do not collect personal information at all, there is nothing to delete, but if you believe a child has provided information through an ad or otherwise, please contact us.
8. How long information is kept, and deleting it
- Information stored on your device stays there until you delete the counters in the app or uninstall the app, which removes the app's local data.
- If Android device backup is on, a backup copy may remain in your Google account until you delete it in your Google account settings.
- Files you exported are yours; delete them from wherever you saved or sent them.
- We hold no copy of your counters or history, so we have nothing to delete on our side.
9. Your rights
Because we do not collect or store your personal information, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or similar laws), you may have rights regarding information that Google processes for advertising, such as access, deletion and objection. You can exercise these with Google through your Google account and ad settings. You may also contact us, and we will help where we can. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Security
Your data stays inside the app's private storage on your device and is protected by your device's own security. Connections to Google's ad and consent services use encryption in transit. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Ad requests are sent to Google's servers, which may be located in countries other than your own. Google describes how it handles such transfers in its policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, show a notice in the app or on the store listing. Please check this page from time to time.
